What is a rebuilt vehicle inspection?

A rebuilt vehicle inspection is required for vehicles that were previously issued a Salvage Title and have been repaired.
The inspection confirms the vehicle is roadworthy and that all repairs and replaced parts meet Florida PRVIP requirements before a Rebuilt Title can be issued.

Who needs a rebuilt inspection?

You need a rebuilt inspection if:

  • Your vehicle currently has a Salvage Title

  • The vehicle was declared a total loss and later repaired

  • You want to convert the Salvage Title into a Rebuilt Title

  • You plan to legally register and drive the vehicle in Florida

What documents do I need to bring?

You must bring:

  • Original Salvage Title

  • Receipts for all replaced parts

  • Pre-repair photos

  • Valid ID

  • Visible VIN

Does the vehicle need to be running?

Yes.
The vehicle must be operational and able to move under its own power at the time of inspection.

How long does the inspection take?

Most inspections take between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on:

  • Condition of the vehicle

  • Completeness of documentation

  • Accuracy of receipts and forms

What happens during the inspection?

No.

You must submit your paperwork to the Florida DMV to receive your official Rebuilt Title.
